Maruti Suzuki Wagon R; Owner Review by Mr.Krishna Rao |
I got this car 2 years back on the 26'th of may 2004. So far I have covered around 24500km on this car. I used to have a fiat premier padmini before this; enjoyed with it and probably extracted the last few drops of life it had before disposing of it.
I have a 50-50 Highway city driving circuit and initially atleast till the 15000km mark, most of the miles were clocked between Mysore - Mangalore and Mysore - Bangalore. One trip to ooty and one to Goa. Well, this car has a 1.1 liter engine of which I have zero complaints, its damn good this number and you really get to feel the power when you rev her all the way to hit 90kph in 2nd gear!! It is a bit noisy and grupp when you push it but on the usual city run its no problem. Initially I did feel the need for low down torque, but after the 5000km service, the engine got responsive.
The tall boy design is spacious, but does give the car odd-ball proportions, this also means the ride is a bit hard and thanks to maruti engineering the tires are also rather thin. Braking though is quite adequate. I don't check mileage often, but once I did get an average consumption of 19.5kmpl between mysore and panaji with 5 prople on board and some lead footed driving.
AC is quite good, but on a sunny day in a coastal city; it does wear a bit thin. I suggest you get soom cooling film that would ease the load on the engine; which takes a beating as soon as the compressor switches on.
I got a discount of around Rs.10000 and the LXi model was available on road for Rs.400000. Car was delivered on time promised. The service has also been prompt but I would like to report that Maruti service dealers are not too good at fixing vibrations that occur aplenty on this stiffly sprung car.
Believe in Maruti to provide you a car with good overall performance and you wouldn't be dissatisfied.
